STEFY
RAE
front woman for the band STEFY
STEFY is a band with the energy of No Doubt,
and an incredibly sexy front woman, Stefy Rae, who combines the brashness of
Pink and the commanding stage presence of Debbie Harry. Rae is bold and
captivating as the focal point of the electro-infused rock band, STEFY.
Whether singing about moving on from a torrid relationship, getting over a boy
who is as fake as Orange Crush, or lamenting about a pair of teens in Orange
County who lose their innocence too early, Rae's melodic voice has a subtle
force, making it the only aspect of this band that isn't totally in-your-face.
We got a chance to ask Stefy Rae a few questions ... read on to see what she had
to say.
Fanvasion
Magazine: Okay, first off we have to know ... is there really a "Chelsea"?
Stefy Rae: No. "Chelsea" is more of a type of girl that's beautiful and gets
whatever she wants, so she takes away your
boyfriend just for fun.
What pushed you to pursue singing?
My sister was in a band and she is the one that
inspired me to become a singer.
How do you feel about critics/fans comparing STEFY to No Doubt?
I think it's crazy!! Crazy in a good way but scary at
the same time. Scary because we don't want the No
Doubt fans to think that we are copying them cause
we're not.
Is it difficult being the only girl in the band?
No, the complete opposite. I get spoiled by my boys.
Your sound is very different than what we're use
to hearing these days. What would you say are some of your musical influences?
I love David Bowie, Prince, The Beatles, The Rolling
Stones, Blondie and so many more. The list could go on
and on.
Where did the title "The Orange Album" come from?
Well after the album was finished we were thinking of what
we could call it. Joking around we said "The Orange
Album" . After a while we liked it and named it our record.
We hear you co-wrote all the songs on the album.
Do you have a favorite, or one track more personal than the others?
Yes, "Love You to Death " is one of the first songs I've
ever written in my life. I thought I fell in love when
I was 17 and then he crushed me. Then "Love You to
Death" was born in my journal.
Can you tell us a bit about who you worked with
on this record?
I worked with my best-friend Jimmy Harry. He is an
amazing producer!
We love "Orange County", can you tell us the
story behind the track?
I love the typical "I love you and you love me so
let's be together" type of songs. I wanted to write a
song in that vain but in reality that doesn't always
happen.
What's next for STEFY after the album release? Do
we get a tour?
That's what we are hoping for. Everything is still up
in the air for us. As soon as we find out we'll let
you know.
We know you're a very busy girl ... so thank you
for taking time to answer our questions.
